Deribit is a Bitcoin exchange platform that offers advanced features like the possibility of trading BTC futures with up to 20x leverage or European vanilla options with up to 10x leverage. Their servers are fast, stating that they run on a high-speed matching engine that has less than 1ms latency. Another important aspect about Deribit is the fact that they provide real-time liquidation.

Deribit is a fully dedicated Bitcoin futures and options trading platform, being mostly intended for advanced users who have had previous experience with trading platforms. The user-interface provides several advanced functions like placing volatility orders or fixed USD orders for option trading. Due to their real-time risk management, bankruptcy is very unlikely.

Deribit offers some neat user account security options like the IP Pinning option, that can automatically close an established session if it detects user's IP change. Another option is the Safe Session Duration, which defines the amount of time a session will remain active in case there is no activity in the session. Also they state that 90% of users' Bitcoins are locked safe in cold storage.

Deribit was founded by John Jansen in 2016 and is based in the Netherlands. His purpose was"to give market makers the possibility to add or edit hundreds or even thousands of orders in a second with a minimum latency." The platform was in development for more than 2 years to assure the best performance before going live.

Summary:

Although it has numerous advanced trading features and is one of the the few exchanges that offers support for trading BTC Options and BTC Futures, there is very little information available regarding user experience with this platform. We do not recommend users store large Bitcoin assets with Deribit, at least until its credibility becomes more well-established on the market.

The platform provides real-time liquidation and risk management and the minimum order size is of 0.1 Bitcoins. Deribit exchange matching engine is based on “first come first serve” principle. Orders execute in price-time priority as received by the matching engine after passing risk engine checks.
