Carbon Wallet wallet review

Carbon Wallet wallet review

Carbon Wallet
Intuitive Ease of use,  High Privacy,  User Private Keys Stored

Carbon wallet appears to offer many security features. There is however, very little information available in English on this wallet, and it is difficult to assess its reliability. It has a very small market and generally poor reviews by its English clients. It may have more popularity in its home country China.

At this point it is not even possible to activate a carbon wallet account on android device. It would appear that the company has moved to developing Blockchain technology and may no longer be supporting this wallet. Carbon wallet was made by the same developers who made the NEO coin. There may be more current versions available in China that support NEO coin.

Company / organization behind the wallets

Carbon wallet has been around since 2013 which is a long time for this industry. It was one of the first wallets to implement hierarchical deterministic key generation, 2 factor authentication, and a multi signature platform. Unfortunately there is not much news about them lately. My guess is this project has been abandoned and they are not taking on new users.

Carbon wallet has created it's own form of multisignature and 2 factor authentication. Your private keys are kept on your smartphone but are encrypted and only decrypted by your password. It requires both authentication from your device and a passphrase. It also works with your browser for the second private key.

What happens in the event of a disaster/theft/loss?

The user has a 'root key', 'recovery phrase' or 'word seed' that can be used to regenerate private keys.

At this point it is impossible to set up an account on an android device because the device does not work with the camera so you cannot scan the QR code necessary to get started.

Summary:

This wallet has not been properly maintained and does not even work at this time. It would appear this was an early project of Onchain a Chinese Blockchain technology company. It appears to have been abandoned by its creators and is best abandoned by its users aswell.
