The wallet platform is known for its many features, convenience, good privacy, and security measures. GreenAddress is open source, allows users to store, send and receive Bitcoins, provides instant confirmation and is compatible with hardware wallets like Trezor and Ledger Nano.

The GreenAddress wallet platform is run by GreenAddressit Limited from Malta. The company was created by Lawrence Nahum, former technology executive, and Jerzy Kozera, a full stack developer. The 2-men team were one of the first to bring features like HD, multisig, 2FA and dynamic fees. In July 2016 the firm was acquired by Blockstream, a venture focused on developing Bitcoin-oriented solutions.

The user has a 'root key', 'recovery phrase' or 'word seed' that can be used to regenerate private keys.
