Bitcoin Armory wallet review

Bitcoin Armory
Complex Ease of use,  High Privacy,  User Private Keys Stored

Armory has a reputation for being the most secure wallet for Bitcoin available. They pioneered cold storage, paper back up, and multi-signature technology. From a users point of view there are two very important obstacles; you will need technical skills for a proper set-up and operation, the platform was developed for storage not procurement. It's a vault, an armory if you will.

Armory is not really a business its a pet project for some of Bitcoins inner circle. Armory is used by some of the most heavily-invested, and most paranoid Bitcoin enthusiasts. As a result its purpose is security and nothing else. There are no other functions available

Company / organization behind the wallets

To benefit from the full security benefits of Armory the user must use a second air-gaped computer that never accesses the internet to store and generate private keys. Also Armory provides true multi-signature technology where all 3 keys are controlled by the user. Every aspect of security is completely under the control of the user and stored and generated offline.

What happens in the event of a disaster/theft/loss?

The user has a 'root key', 'recovery phrase' or 'word seed' that can be used to regenerate private keys.

Armory is not designed for the faint at heart. It is a complex set up, it requires extra hardware and multiple secure locations and technical expertise. The Glacier Protocol outlines the entire process of how it works and although it is approachable in its language its 93 pages are likely daunting to the average user.

Summary:

Armory is a Bitcoin wallet platform purpose built for security. It offers no extra features, but is renowned as the most secure Bitcoin wallet Armory is known to have pioneered cold storage and multi-signature technology. The main drawback of this wallet platform is the complicated installation and required technical expertise.
