Pixy, a web3 crowdfunding platform, Launches “Brooklyn Angel” Campaign to support an American Volunteer Combat-Medic Team in Ukraine.

New York, NY –

PIXY, a web3 crowdfunding platform, is raising money through NFT sales and direct donations to supply an American volunteer medical team on the ground in Ukraine as the country defends itself from an invading Russian force. All donations will go directly toward the purchase and delivery of much-needed emergency medical supplies, such as combat gauze, burn bandages, tourniquets, and antibiotics.

The team in Ukraine is headed up by Mark Lindquist and Carlos Jones, veterans of the US Air Force and US Navy respectively. Jones spent years in Iraq as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman where he provided medical support to US and allied military forces, as well as civilians. Having since retired, he has watched the events in Ukraine and felt he needed to do something. "It's easy to say the War in Ukraine is unfortunate or I feel for these people. It's another thing when you have a skill set that can be implemented in this situation."

Jones recently liquidated most of his personal belongings and life savings to fund this venture.

Lindquist has taken the lead logistically and has already been in the region for weeks, gathering non-medical supplies daily and driving them personally on the hours-long round trip into the war torn regions of Ukraine.  He was joined in Poland last week by Jones, and the two are now focused on sourcing scarce medical supplies.

With its official launch still months away, Pixy, which aims to shake up the traditional financing system for creative content and digital media, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support Lindquist and Jones. Through the Pixy site, supporters can make a simple cash donation via Venmo, or connect their Terra Chain Wallets to the site and mint an NFT, designed by 3D artist Lukasz Pason, using $LUNA or $UST. Donations in eth, luna and UST are also available via Angel Protocol, giving users a variety of payment options.

“The selflessness and bravery of people like Carlos and Mark moved us and we knew if we were going to help their mission we had to act quickly,” said Pixy’s founder, Poull Brien. “Our talented and hardworking developers and production team pulled out all the stops and allowed us to launch the Brooklyn Angel campaign months ahead of our main platform launch. It’s a testament to both the importance of this cause and the capabilities of the Pixy platform.”

Eventually, Pixy will link NFT creators to independent films, digital media, and comic books, leveraging blockchain technology to fund creative projects. The full launch of the site is planned for Q3 of 2022.
