WISeKey Developing a Blockchain-Handy Smartphone with Cryptocurrency Abilities

The WISephone will feature high-level blockchain technology that will enable cryptocurrency payments and contactless transactions.

Highscreen International has collaborated with WISeKey International Holdings to develop one of the first-ever blockchain smartphones, WISePhone, which will be the first handset to incorporate contactless payments using the WISeCoin cryptocurrency. (As Bitrates previously reported, HTC and others are also developing blockchain smartphones.

According to WISeKey's media release:

“With the highly secured WISePhone, people can safely conduct cryptocurrency transactions. Through our partnership with Highscreen, WISeKey will use its globally recognized digital security pedigree to make communications safe."

What is WISeKey?

WISeKey is a leader in cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT), which deploys via a virtual platform that uses a large scale digital identity ecosystem. The company’s Root of Trust (RoT) and IoT Microchips offer secure identification and authentication in the virtual and physical environments for artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things. These technologies will be significant features for the upcoming WISePhone.  

The smartphone's WISeCoin wallet will feature WISeKey QuoVadis SuisseID Digital Identity verification for cloud-based signatures as well as provide a Know-Your-Customer identity token. Several organizations already use WISeKey QuoVadis products and services to enable them to comply with the GDPR standards as stipulated for goods and services entering the EU market.

Users of the WISeCoin wallet will be able to make contactless cryptocurrency transactions with hassle-free access to their private keys. The WISePhone will address the increased demand for secure digital identity and data protection. WISeKey and Highscreen hope to strengthen the WISeCoin and WISeID platforms using their best components to create a single impenetrable platform.
